>>"All the rules about same-race adoptions need to be erased, if they have not been already. While a black child growing up in a black family is ideal, certainly having that child grow up in a white family is preferable to languishing in foster care."<<
How many black children did YOU adopt? If the answer is none, then why not? Is your husband against it? Are you too poor to adopt a child? If you are not poor then why not adopt one now? Are you one of those people who have good ideas but lack the guts to follow your own advice? Would you prefer that penni, FT, Alex, Holly, or anyone but you adopt a black child? I am sure that the San Francisco adoption agencies would approve your application to adopt a black child. I and many others on SI would send you letters of recommendation endorsing your parenting abilities and your extraordinary talent for nurturing children.
Tuesday would be a good day to call your local adoption agency and start the process rolling. By Christmas you should be the proud parent of a little black boy that you can cuddle, nurture and stuff his face with veggie-burgers. Remember, if you don't adopt him someone less qualified than you might, and they will stuff his face with ham hocks, blackeyed peas and fried chicken and turn him into a child murderer.
