Are you seriously saying that the simultaneous occurance of two trends establishes a causative relationship, or justifies an assumption of common cause?

You would have to agree, then, that the measured increase in global temperature is caused by an increase in greenhouse gas emissions.

This is simply sloppy thinking, and does nothing to support any cause. The simultaneous occurance of X and Y does not prove that X caused Y, or that Y caused X. Both could have any number of totally independent causes, which must be individually assessed.
