As I understand it, most of this backlog is from Cray. At the time of the merger Cray had a large backlog that we were told would be carried forward for a while. Cray builds big machines and the orders aren't the type where the customer expects Cray to pull a machine off the shelf and ship it in 4 weeks. It takes a while to build $750M worth of Cray computers. I don't know the details, but I'd bet that most of the backlog is still Cray, with a steadily larger amount coming from the demand for the new products (and the unfortunate inability to fill all the orders).
