The era of corruption of which I speak began with the explosion of debt under Reagan. It was during this time and after that the US ceased to be a great nation. It was during Reagan that we couldn't pay our bills anymore. The gop promised to never raise taxes and to always cut them. The debt soared. Blaming anyone seems foolish.
