I genuinely liked the Pope. However, the media has gone way overboard

I was a little surprised at that. But plainsong always sounds good. I am taking some enjoyment from listening to the BBC types squirm as they have to keep praising a man whose every policy they hated so much. Every hour or so they interview a liberal theologian to relieve the pressure.

I did not like most of the Pope's policies, but he was clearly a great man, worthy of respect. (He hardly designed his policies with me in mind - or any of the chattering classes either, who think he should have listened to them.) He was, notably, the first anti-anti-Semitic pope, which was really astounding for a man coming from the Polish Church, which has always been one of the most anti-Semitic around.

Hugh Hewitt thinks that the media types are completely surprised by the outpouring of grief for the Pope. Do you think he's right?
