Ted,

My only point is now AMD has cash, they need to reinvest. Now they have a solid position, a name and credibility, they need to capitalize.

I think this very moment is important because we don't know what Intel is coming out with.

There is NEVER a bad time to advertise.

Jozef brought up promotional placement, this is crucial also. But it doesn't establish a brand.

Here's my opinion on your friend (who I believe is the minority). Even NOT knowing the innards, if he saw two Compaqs for $1,500 with the same specs - one with an AMD, one with an Intel - he'd choose the Intel. Probably even an Athlon vs a Celeron.

That said, a similar Athlon vs Pentium - the Athlon would be cheaper. Reason - the processor is cheaper. Result - lower ASP.

Dave

PS - I'm not married to NTAP. I made some pretty good dough on it. IMO they may be overvalued, but that won't stop people from buying it. They're volatile and will trade with the NAZ. With a 4000 NAZ, NTAP will be $80. I'm in cheap!
