The Syrian blogs are full of rumors of pending "reforms" coming from the Assad regime, emptying the jails, giving citizenship to the Kurds (did you know they didn't have it?), allowing multi-party elections, etc.

Don't know the rights of it, and many bloggers are dubious themselves. But interesting. If I had to predict, I would say that the Alawite-based Baathist regime of Syria is unreformable, and any attempts will show it, ending either in the fall of the regime or a military coup.
