Dr. Watson--I'm afraid the short interest has actually gone down (let me restate that-- it's bad because the short interest and the price both went down). The short interest last month was ~29M shares (split adjusted). The numbers of shares short has decreased around 20% (to 25M). However, you always have to be prepared for a little bit of people covering before the short announcement to make the number seem better, especially because of the rather high value of percent of float short that was reached in August.
