What's your take on JINI Sun's Jini brings three wishes to the table infoworld.com The long-term future for Sun's development project, however, is still open to question. Could Jini grant Sun's remaining two wishes -- redefine the model for computing that has held for the past 20 years as well as give birth to a new world of electronic markets? "Someone has to make the bet," Farber said. "When you bet, sometimes you win and some times you lose... You need people who will go out and do it. I hope Sun has that courage to do it." The key attribute of Jini, according to Sun, is that the software will make it easier for developers to build distributed systems. In the Jini world view, anything connected to a network -- be it a hard drive, person, or software -- is represented by a software object, and Jini provides a way to label those objects. --- The way I see it Sun has a great concept but with a company like MS trying to undermine any innovative idea that could hurt the Windows empire will it come under the same kind of fragmentation that Java is presently struggling with. The ace in the hole for Sun is that it's going to give away the source code for FREE. Maybe they should apply for ISO approval. I also noted that you are one again expecting Sun to come under selling pressure. Last time you did a good job on the call lets see what happens this time. Are you expecting soft sales or still sticking to Wall Streets perception? The law suit with MS is coming in the fall and this could also cause some investor nervousness. JMHO Mike
