Back in '84 I did buy an extended warranty and it paid off. I ordered a GMC 4x4 Suburban in June to be delivered as an '85 in September. Cash, no trade and no loan to be on the lot got me $300 over cost. When I picked it up they ASKED if I'd like to look at the extended warranty. As I recall it doubled it from 30k to 60k for $200. I bought it and at 65k the fly wheel and started fighting and shot craps. 5k over the warranty, the service manager called the dealer and they covered the repair because I had bought the extended warranty.

BTW, remember Miami Vice on TV? All the cigarette boats in the opening shot were owned by that truck dealer, he owned the factory that made them.
