MQ,
I consider myself a progressive and choose from the menus offered by the left and right. American Liberals appear to me today as the party of reactionaries. They remind me of anti-New Deal Burke Hickenlooper Republicans back in the 50s. In today's case they refuse to recognize the Reagan revolution much as yesterdays cons refused to recognize the new deal as well as the Civil Rights movement. I am not asking dems to agree with Reaganomics or privatization or limitation of the welfare state or social conservatism for that matter but i do expect them to come up with alternatives and not just be reactionary and rejectionist. Thats what the left fails at in the US. There are dems out there who know this and their job becomes recapturing the democratic party machinery or forging a third party with "moderate" republicans. Americans need choice at election time. Me too or NO NO are not the right answers. As a progressive i look forward to a time when we will have choices again even if it means the demise of one or both of todays parties. Mike
