Hi Sam,

If you have no AMAT, that is the place to start. I like NVLS. Historically, they are very cheap. 2 times book has been a trough bottom. Last I looked (means check my figures), 2 times book is $26 and they are at $29. NVLS has a great record of technology innovation which produces market leading tools. They have been the dominant player in copper, but they are losing market share to AMAT. They have had recent success against AMAT dominance in PVD after acquiring the business from Varian ~ 7 years ago. They predict more rapid, but similar, success, again, against AMAT dominance, from their more recent purchase of CMP tool maker SFAM. NVLS's weakness is their head to head competition with AMAT in most of their tool areas. Owning both reduces some of the risk.

Cary
