The price of oil is back up to the point where it was when TMAR was trading for
$20 a share. Does anyone have any ideas about why TMAR hasn't been moving
up as well? I thought oil service stocks were supposed to lead the energy sector...

The earnings of the exploration and production companies are directly
driven by the commodity prices, but the support companies earnings are
driven by the spending of the E&Ps. There will be at least a 2
quarter lag between consistently strong oil prices and any sort of
recovery in service company earnings. For some of the service companies,
like deepwater drillers, this lag could be as much as 8 quarters.
