Arnold, I agree with your Mexican friend, but not in the sense of a boycott, though boycotts could also be organized. More importantly will be a weight of We the Sheeple opinion and interests which we will express with clicks of our mice and movement of our money.

Cyberspace is a borderless world, and it'll be quite a battle for power to attract and control the individuals in that world. The main control will remain the 3D presence which can knock on the door with guns at the ready and prisons to hold the unapproved cyberspacers. But with encryption, it'll be a tough job to hold everyone hostage and stop them moving their money to unapproved places.

Even the 3D world is increasingly fluid. High tax wasteful kleptocratic repressive countries could find themselves losing the clicks and losing the people to civilized countries where freedom reigns and taxes are low, but civilization is high.

While the USA is fighting the 3D temporal world of medievil mullahs, there is a much bigger battle looming.

When 500 million of us [or maybe as few as 50 million] have our allegiance primarily to cyberspace and as we will probably have a high proportion of the world's money, it'll be a seismic shift in how things run. Cyberspace, like countries, will develop a "national interest" made up of the synergistic interests of the cyberspacoids and cyberspace Itself. It will not take kindly to It's interests [note cool apostrophe] being messed with.
