Plus they make crummy race cars. Convertibles are heavier and flimsier due to the lack of a roof. The strength lost by removing the roof must be made up by strengthening the frame/lower chassis.

If you want to survive crashes, get a NASCAR Grand National car and walk away from 200 mph fender benders. No anti-lock brakes, and no airbags either. Those four-inch-wide five point harnesses, and inertial reels on the helmet make all the difference.
