Paul, I think the review was more sceptical than you perceive.

The history of mathematical formulas for beating the market is dismal - none remained a winner after their unveiling. The reason: no matter what you do, judgment is still required to make optimum decisions.

If one uses the formula as Mr. Greenblatt does - a screening device to select candidates for further research - one might do well, otherwise I predict this will go the way of all previous blind followings of mathematical formulas - works for about 3-4 years with diminishing returns and then fizzles out and is forgotten.

I'm sticking with Mr. Greenblatt's first book. It's the best thing I've ever read in my 30 years of investing.
