(OT) Dan, I would roughly guess that less than half of murders in Canada would be as a result of a gun since they would have to be commited with a rifle or shotgun (handguns in Canada are tightly restricted and almost banned - to the dismay of PMS Witch it appears). This makes the gun an inconvenient murder weapon of choice. I am just trying to recall the murders in our city (about 15 this year) and I would guess that most were either with a blunt weapon or by hand. Maybe 4 of 15 were by gun. As for statistics gathered by the UN comparing Canada to the US. Avg Life expectancy for Males: Canada: 75.6 US: 72.5 Avg Life expectancy for Females: Canada: 81.4 US: 79.3 Intentional Homicides per 100,000: Canada: 1.7 US: 9.9 Infant mortality (Deaths / 1000): Canada: 6 US: 9 I think these numbers do more to show the difference than all the griping PMS Witch can muster up.
