This was a Committee vote. The Pease amendment (banning internet lotteries) passed by a wide margin. One Congressman mentioned that 36 State Attorneys General supported the amendment.

I lost the line for a while after that vote but I believe the complete Bill then passed as amended and will go to the House for a vote. Someone at Raging Bull thinks the Bill will not be voted on this session, so I don't know if it will become law, and what happens if it doesn't. Perhpas that's the saving grace.

Without a bill, perhaps it's up to individual states to decide what to do. There was considerable discussion by the Committee that the Pease amendment encroaches on State rights.

I don't think the story is over. But, ELOT's story is much less compelling with the Bill hanging over everyone's head.
