Ambilight’s viewpoint on transition speed:

“While the YU7’s roof transitions slowly (~3 minutes) between its two modes (transparent and shaded), Ambilight and Xiaomi argue this is a worthwhile trade-off. Lei Jun noted users typically adjust the roof only "weekly or monthly," making speed secondary to superior functionality. In transparent mode, the roof still blocks significant heat and UV rays; in shaded mode, it maintains partial transparency for ambient light without the visual distortion or poor insulation of PDLC alternatives.”
