irby,

Responding to my own post. Fessing up is the real reason.

Re: trading (mostly position, some day) provides the majority of my income

My wife pointed out that this is not completely true. (I didn't lie. I misspoke myself!)

The combination of returns in my IRA accounts and the taxable returns in other accounts totals more than my salary. However, benefits and "incentive" compensation pushes the job upward and therefore contributes more to the bottom line! An additional personal constraint -- Our lifestyle must be supported by salary only. All other forms af income are leveraged toward the childrens needs (college, etc.) and retirement planning.

Ira

btw: My criteria for "early retirement" is 3 consecutive years where the return from investment is 2 times my current "employment" income (salary only). This indicates investments could provide for my current needs, with continued capital appreciation.

btw2: Earlier postings have promted me to review 1997 trading activity to determine if I fall prey (pray?) to the emotions I warned against. I do. Less in the second half than in the first, but I do. More on that later.
