Actually, I was into that one sentence response this thread sometimes inspires.

I've got two sort of umbrella reasons. The first is that the so-called "partial birth abortion" legislation is simply part of a longer term strategy to cut Roe v Wade to bits, small bites at a time. Particularly, since the original decision made it clear that the state played a role in late term abortions. I wish to oppose that strategy wherever it rears its head.

The second is that, from the little I read about it at the time, I came to the conclusion that most of such abortions take place when there is serious risk to the health of the mother, sometimes a threat of death. I am under the impression these are rather serious procedures, much different from early term abortions.
