If they do not sell the stock, they have to buy the stock at the option price determined much earlier, which is usually much lower than the market price (not necessary true for all stocks, in case the market price is lower or the same as the option price at the striking date, the options are worthless).

However, many of those guys are young engineers/officers that need money to do other things. It is definitely not a positive sign that they sell. But, some of them are not selling, including the CEO who may have some cash to keep the options for future profit. Another thing is we DO NOT know if the people who sold actually sold all of the options, or just part of it.
