08:11 ET Semiconductor Equipment : ABN AMRO says they still see upside in the semi
equipment stocks, arguing that the peak of the cycle is still a good year away even though
the stock market discounts a slowing of order momentum a good 6 months ahead. An
increasingly prosperous semiconductor industry in CY2000 will drive increasing equipment
demand in CY2001; the 6 top spenders on equipment are accounting for above trend 55%
of incremental spending in CY2000, a DRAM shortage in 2HCY2000 should result in
more aggressive spending in CY2001.
