Bipin and Terry Let's try again , but with numbers. (1) For years Micron has used 6 inch They have learned and now get 85% yield. (2) Now the numbers 100 times .85 = 85 good units. (3) One day they stop, change to 8 inch and start again. (4) With 8 inch it is 184 units (5) But problems with yield which is only 50% (6) 184 times .50 = 92 units (7) Net increase 85 to 92 = 7 more units (8) That is not 84 units ! (9) Last quarter number of units actually dropped by 12 % (10) This quarter ??? June 14, 1996 we find out ! (11) One more thing , Some plants have batches containing 25 wafers. So some could be still 6 inch and some now 8 inch. But it is just one of those unanswered questions. Larry Dudash PS: Maybe CEO and CFO know the answers and sold????
