Amati Comments on Stock Decline

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 11, 1996-- Amati Communications Corp , said today that it knows of no
fundamental reason for the recent decline in stock price.

Amati recently made several announcements including a partnership with NEC Corp. of Japan to develop Very High-Speed
Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) technologies. The company also recently introduced two new products -- an Overture 8
ADSL/DMT Modem for Internet Access and the industry's first board level design product for ADSL services.

In addition, Amati is currently participating in more than a dozen different telephone company ADSL field trials around the
world, including the GTE Internet access trial in Dallas, Texas.

Amati is a leading developer of advanced transmission equipment utilizing Discrete Multitone Technology (DMT) technology
for the Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), VDSL and cable modem markets. Amati is also a provider of network
connectivity systems for the internetworking and OEM marketplaces. The company's connectivity products include local area
network gateways, client-based workstation software and network data communications interfaces.
