Fiber Optics Looks Hot Going Forward "[The fiber-optic equipment firms] are going to do very well," says Robertson Stephens analyst Arun Veerappan, who rates JDS Uniphase "buy." It is a simple matter of demand far outweighing supply, Veerappan says. "The communications market is moving toward fiber; people are not able to scale up fast enough." Why is there such demand? "Because people like us are on the phone and the Internet and watching cable TV," Veerappan adds. Veerappan also has a "buy" rating on Bookham Technology Plc. {BKHM}, a United Kingdom-based fiber-optics equipment maker.
