Gordon, It's getting late here but I will try to answer part of your question. The 200 recharges are based on 80% capacity but the battery should continue to perhaps 400 or 500 recharches at 50% or 40% capacity etc.

Lithium ion polymer has over twice the capacity as Nickel metal hydride now common for cellphones. If a LiIon Manganese battery were made the same size, it would take twice as many hours or days to discharge and therefore would require half the number of recharge cycles. Smart charging circuitry should extend useful life. LiIon polymer has almost 3x the energy storage capacity as NiCad. Also, there are many who limit their cellphone use to perhaps an hour a day or even an hour a week because the access time is so expensive.

There is an isotope of Cobalt "Co60" that emits penetrating gamma rays with a half life of 6.6 years. The cobolt used in batteries is not radioactive. I believe it has minimum environmental impact in the polymer battery form. Regards, FMK
