Sam, Off Topic
I posted his first private mail here and it was just a single insulting sentence. Last night he complained privately that it was unethical of me to post private mail in public. It's my position that far from being unethical, it was sensible when it comes to a total stranger sending hate mail. In my view potentially dangerous people do that sort of thing, so in contrast to owing him confidentiality, I owe myself protection. It's very creepy, conjuring up an image of something I witnessed once...
In daytime, walking West on Canal Street, a relatively busy street in Manhattan, a man walking ahead of me... coming toward us, another man without altering his determined pace, reached into a trash can, pulled out a two by four that happened to be lying in it, continuing on apace, in one swing bashed the fellow ahead of me across the head with the two by four, dropped it into the next trash can, and walked on without skipping a beat. The battered man was near death and had been attacked by an (im)perfect stranger. I couldn't even nearly identify mug shots of the attacker, no matter what they say in the movies. Oddly the victim's family thanked me for sticking around to report what had actually happened, and the police refused to take the 2x4 as evidence for fingerprints, which irritated me very much.
It was so many many years ago, but I remember the event now, so clearly, but still don't remember the face of the violent stranger.
Anyway, I don't want to post any more of his notes here, because I don't want to protract this any longer, I've already reported it, and complaining about him here only seems to encourage him to greater abuses.
I'll accept hate mail from people who know me, but not from strangers. :-)
