I agree, that new computer was not worth the 3300.00 dollars, and that was just the tower. Mind you that's Canadian dollars.

I found the speed increase was not worth the $$$. I am running a P2 450, 128 SDRAM with a Rage Fury 32MB Graphics Card (damn fast 2D and 3D).

This old P2 is very quick. I found the P3 800 RDRAM system about 100% faster, but from my last upgrade, P133 to the P2 450, was almost a 400% increase in speed. Now that was worth the 3500.00 for the tower. So I think the P4, 1 or 1.4G will be at least 200% faster than my current P2 450.

Plus you will have a resource CD that is up to date for the new P4 systems. The Dell resource CD that came with the P3 800, was 8-9 months old.

Very VERY happy with my P2 450, it's going to be 2 years old as of Sept.

Another thing, if you open a new Dell P3, you will see a cowl overtop the P3 chip heatsink, this is to direct air through the heatsink, but this cowl makes a hell of a lot of noise. The P3 system I sent back was at least 2 times as loud as my P2.

NOTE:
I have 7200 RPM drives in my old system as well, so it's not HD noise, it fan and air noise.
