Linda Looks like Joe is a candidate for Apple CEO! biz.yahoo.com Friday September 26 2:36 AM EDT Apple Computer narrows CEO search NEW YORK, Sept 26 (Reuter) - Apple Computer Inc (AAPL) has narrowed its search for a new chief executive, the Wall Street Journal reported in its electronic edition Friday, citing people familiar with the situation. The leading candidates to succeed Gilbert Ameilo, whom Apple ousted as CEO, are Samuel Palmisano -- PC chief at IBM(IBM - news), Ed Zander -- president of a major unit at Sun Microsystems (SUNW), David Dorfman -- an executive vice president at SBC Communications (SBC) and Joe Costello -- president and chief executive of Cadence Design Systems Inc (CDN), the paper said. Representatives of the four executives either declined to comment or could not be reached, the paper said. The paper also said that Apple may ask interim CEO Steve Jobs to serve as the company's non-executive chairman after a CEO is named. Jobs declined comment, the paper said.
