From Briefing Com. This does not look good re MSFT -
MICROSOFT CORP. (MSFT) 94 7/8 +5/8. Software giant could be on the verge of altering the home banking terrain as the company has announced that it will eliminate all user fees charged to financial institutions that offer its customers on-line banking and bill-payment services through its Microsoft Money product. By eliminating the fees charged to institutions for connecting to Money, Microsoft believes more financial institutions will adopt on-line banking, the result being increased banking options and potentially reduced costs for consumers.
The company said that the elimination of fees is effective immediately, and is applicable to all current and future institutions. Beginning this fall, Microsoft also plans to have Microsoft Money
support the new Open Financial Exchange specification. The company has been working with Intuit Inc. (INTU 24 1/2 -1) and CheckFree Corp. (CKFR 11 3/8 -1 1/8) to promote a single technical standard for banking over the Internet and to unify their technologies in a
combination called Open Financial Exchange. Conflicting standards have prevented the full adoption of on-line banking, but this move could jump-start the interest in on-line banking again, with MSFT sitting right in the middle of the pyramid in control of the software standards and with a heck of a way to market its Money product.

Seems like Msft has worked to get a cooperative standard and has now made a move to eliminate competitors. Or am I misunderstanding???
Isn't this a knife in the back?
