Simple, I suggest you reread the earnings report, and this time use a calculator. You will find two things. First, earnings grew right in line with expectations, but that revenues fell short of expectations by about 4% -- but this this was still up about 7.4% sequentially over the previous quarter. What does that tell you?

It should tell you that at the margin Dell could have sold considerably more hardware had they lowered prices. Which would also have added considerably to the bottom line. It should also tell you that revenues were growing at an annualized rate of 33% (based solely on that quarter), but that given the pipeline figure, 33% is certain to be a gross underestimate of near-term growth. So much for dead in the water rate of growth. Have you any other FACTS to share with the thread. I am sure there would be many here to disabuse you of your peculiar interpretation of numbers.

And guess what? Everybody on this thread knows about slowing PC growth. Do you know why? Simple. When a company grows to a significant size in terms of market share it mathematically cannot sustain a growth rate far in excess of the market growth. And Dell knows this also. That is why we are seeing initiatives in enterprise storage and gigabuys.com. And that is why your focus on the PC is market is going to land you in hot water. Maybe it would be a bit smarter for you to not keep it quite so simple, and do some in-depth research instead.
