Progressives view fascism with abhorrence and communism through rose colored glasses - after all communists believed or at least espoused progressive values. You should study how Fascists viewed themselves:

Thank God, he was wrong....

Now with Nazism - you don't even want to go there, they definitely had a sense of their place as a religion.
