Chuck believes the mideast will be the mideast and nothing we do matters

mike - Six months ago I felt the same way that chuck does; I would have been happy to vote against Bush if the Democrats had put up a halfway credible candidate who was willing to run on George Aiken's Viet Nam suggestion: We won, now let's leave.

However, the Iraqi elections in January, and the events in Lebanon, have given me cause to reconsider. There may very well be a Silent Majority of Arabs/Muslims who are willing to peacefully coexist with us infidels, even including the Israelis. If so, then the neocons' blueprint for the Middle East could make the sacrifice worthwhile.
