In their real estate bubble the Japanese gov't printed money to purchase land. Why wouldn't it happen in the UK, US or Australia? Seems to have worked for Japan. It hasn't been a stellar recovery but there was no 30's style depression.

I don't think it matters how many trillion. The money will be printed. A worthless apartment building in Osaka the bank can't collect on, and which is putting the bank in trouble with the BIS, isn't different from a similarly worthless derivatives contract a bank holds, is it?
