That's what I think, too, but because I am invested so as to profit from that, I try to discount the wish-factor in my thinking. With the United States gobbling every commodity and shipping its dollars overseas, and with Canada producing all sorts of commodities and getting paid better and better for them, it is hard to see why the loonie won't appreciate considerably more. Still, Canadian governments, whether Liberal or Tory or some coalition, seem to be very good at screwing up their economy. The current prime minister and his finance minister (Harper and Flaherty), having inherited a burgeoning economy, a balanced budget--really a surplus--and a trade surplus, immediately began getting out their screwdrivers and dissassembling things that they had promised to leave alone.
