Taking Down El Trumpo

The blueprint for taking Donald Trump down
Bill Palmer | 11:00 pm EST February 14, 2019 Palmer Report » Analysis

With all the verbal sparring that’s transpired between Donald Trump and Mexican drug kingpin El Chapo over the years, along with Trump’s false insistence that all Mexican immigrants are drug dealers like El Chapo is, one might expect Trump to be excited that El Chapo has finally been convicted. But the reality is that Trump should be very, very worried about the precedent and blueprint involved.

El Chapo is a career criminal who reveled in the fact that no one seemed to be able to stop him. But in the end he was taken down the hard way: prosecutors stuck to their guns with an overwhelmingly comprehensive criminal case against him, which relied heavily on plea deals they’d cut with his former top henchmen. The jury convicted El Chapo accordingly, and he’s on his way to a super max prison, never to be heard from again. Here’s the thing.

Donald Trump is also a career criminal who revels in the fact that no one seems to be able to stop him. But even as he continues his crime spree, prosecutors are sticking to their guns with an overwhelmingly comprehensive criminal case against him, which relies heavily on plea deals they’ve cut with his former top henchmen.

Lots of people thought El Chapo was too powerful and slippery to ever be take down by the law. A lot of those same people think Donald Trump is too powerful ad slippery to be taken down by the law. But prosecutors are using the same blueprint to take Trump down that they just successfully used to take El Chapo down. Trump shouldn’t be celebrating; he should be legitimately worried that he’s next.
