Sorry to say that you are being a bit tough on many old people. With only SS as their income, they can walk every where, yodel to their friends, and listen to radio, and still not be able to pay for health insurance. A 75 year old person, in good health, would have to pay over $200 per month for any health plan on the market. Even AARP, who has the least expensive insurance of anyone else. Most health plans will only pay $500 per year for prescriptions, and many of the old people take prescriptions that run over $6,000 per year. I have seen the bills, and know the $6,000 is a true amount.
