Future is not very bright. Although in 1 billion years there won't be any life left on Earth due to change in the Sun or some other extraterrestrial events, humans will probably have eliminated themselves long before. Look how people believe so firmly something even if there is no proof of it whatsoever. To ensure the survival of the intelligent species beyond the inevitable time limit, advancing human intelligence via genetic engineering and making sure the AI does not fight against humans but cooperate, etc., is imperative in order to escape the Earth as its life is finite, etc. as S.Hawking says. But I am not very optimistic about the future just from the dominance of religions that have no objective proof of their truth, or most simply just the Republicans. No point of arguing with religious fanatics or political fanatics. Some technologists may find a solution for themselves and find a way.
