President Trump Honors Black History Month Reception: ‘It’s Never Been Better’
During President Donald Trump’s address at the White House Black History Month reception, he thanked the African-American community and promised to keep fighting for lower unemployment and more opportunities to succeed.
“Today, we are here to honor the extraordinary contributions from African-Americans from the earliest days of this nation,” said Trump. “African-Americans have uplifted and inspired our country in art, science, literature, law, film, politics, business and every arena.”

“These contributions are beyond measure. You know it and everybody knows it. We pay tribute to the African-American heroes who have sacrificed in the name of freedom and dignity in America. Every citizen alive today are forever in debt of the brave souls who have championed the eternal cause of civil rights.”
He then moved to discuss historically low unemployment rates.
“And by the way, as you’ve been hearing me say, African-American unemployment is at an all-time low. In the history of our country, it’s never been better,” said Trump.
“Tell me, how do they beat us on the debate stand when we say we have the best unemployment numbers ever?” |
