Alex, I sincerely hope this happens with respect to CFC's. At present it doesn't look promising.

I too share you vision of technology being the real long term answer to many of our environmental concerns. Genetic engineering of plant life, increasing yields dramatically, looks like the most promising of those inventions.

It's just not realistic to expect farmers to go back to plowing with a tiller, and planting by hand. Despite Christine's appealing flowing dress scene. Real farming, and really picking the crops is much less appealing than her vision would lead you to believe. It's very hard work, and the people doing it are paid very little. Many of them are illegal aliens who are paid well below the minimum wage.
