Tim, First, I would like to say that the Startronix marketing plan is brilliant and I can see why alot people are excited. I did like the quality of the active matrix screen on the Starscreen.

Second, Since the machine in the end was going to cost around $3000, I just wanted to test the machine out. So one evening during a meeting I sat down and surfed the net to see how fast the graphics downloaded on to the Starscreen. It could have been a bad line all evening long, but the graphics took forever to come up on the screen.

At home I have a 28.8 Zoom modem on my 486-DX2-66 and an older Diamond Stealth Video Card. For comparision purposes, my 66 computer on a regular basis produced internet graphics on the screen much faster than the Starscreen. Now mind you, I was only able to sit down at the starscreen for one evening. Without opening the unit, I'm guessing that the Starscreen may have pretty fast processor but the bottleneck might be the video card. This is only my opinion. Maybe someone else could elaborate on their experience regarding this issue.

Additionally, I've made suggestions on the other thread to upgrade to a 586-133 since it is approximately $5 difference in price vs. the 486-DX4-100(based on Computer Shopper magazine prices.) For the extra $5, the user would enjoy a big benefit in the area of processing speed.

Now I have to cushion the above comments with the fact that I used this machine for only one evening and for a very short time and other conditions could have been present that I wasn't aware of (i.e
bad line - all night long....)

I have friends who purchase this machine with the intention of having a mouse on the Keyboard. They weren't happy when they found out that the mouse was taken off the keyboard. I also suggested on the other thread placing back the mouse on the board for convenient purposes. I suggest the user have the option to use an external mouse or a mouse pad on the keyboard. But if you look at other notebooks/labtops, most have an on board mouse. It's just more convenient.

Finally, I hope this company considers the users input in making the minor changes. Good luck to everyone associated with this company.

Pete M.
