Now you're thinking <g>. Some good points you are making. But you haven't followed through on the logical conclusions of your analysis.

IF nothing is there, then the logical play is putting or shorting high flyers like Dell and Compaq, which depend heavily on that upgrade market. They will have to look overseas for sales.

We need to really think hard about what it is that will drive upgrades (i.e. killer apps!)

Device Bay is a cloud in the sky. Impossible to say at this point what's going on there .. vendors need to rally around it and keep the maginal cost very very low for it to succeed.

What happens at ADPT depends on how they handle the transition to 1394. IMHO.
