Trade Alerts - very brief status update:
Took 1/2 of RNWk off the table at 5.43. This has not worked out as planned, and I wanted to make some new and hopefully, more profitble moves. So, I took 1/2 off for a small profit, i.e., the cost of a ham sandwich. I am keeping the other 1/2 b/c it is looking much better from a TA view.
New positions/trades this past week included LGF ~ $9.58 starter position, although lots of insider purchases, one former seller is now a buyer CRYP ~ $18.04 from my proprietary trading model NNVC ~ $0.11 - from Allan - this is pure, unadulterated spec ACAM ~ $9.39 - coincidentally, in the same field as NNVC, but they are much farther down the road and the chart looks pretty good at this level, so I took a much larger position as cf. NNVC. - for more indepth reasons - read my blog.
Trade Alerts - brief status update:
Earlier this week, I shorted JPM and subsequently covered it at a small profit - enuf for a ham sandwich. ;)
Today, I took starter positions in RNW.K at ~ $5.38 and ONX.X at ~$21.58. Real reported a great Q the other day and it really (pun intended) looks like a great value play. I like the chart a lot and it appears that $5 is the low so not much risk here - knock on wood. They also author. repurchase of stock, which should provide a floor of sorts.
ONX.X, while not yet id'd by my model, it comes pretty close. They reported after the bell. I listened to the conf call. It was definitely a positive call. The stock has been obliterated recently. We'll find out by early next week if the selling is done and the shorts look to book profits.
Alerts from my propriety model identified TDS.C and CTH.R as potential plays to keep a close eye on.
DES.C reported after the bell. They previously raised guidance on July 18th, but their report was still a pleasant surprise. I was expecting $10.5+ to maybe $11 mill for the Q and the number was $12+. Tomorrow morn at 11:00 AM is the conf call. I gotta feeling coverage (and the resultant side effects - both positive and negative) is not far away.
In other events, SGT.L was relatively strong in the ugly mkt today. SYN.A was even stronger. TSC.M was weak in the late afternoon trade today, but it is lightly traded and, like SGTL, I am in for the longer haul.
401k - I still remain long since my last move. While August is typically a poor month, and the VIX is at all-time lows, this mkt still feels like any significant sell off will be bought. We'll see.
Bottom line: I am really not sure what, if anything, I would sell tomorrow in order to add new plays or if I wanted to lighten up. I was thinking SYN.A was the one to vote off the island, but she was really, really strong today. I think this is a good problem to have. Having said that, I may be losing it b/c both DES.c and ONX.X were down in after-hours trading! I may need some R&R. |
