Interesting that Williams just passes that one right by. That's because his piece is about the corruption of the concept of rights and the references to the programs are incidental. Seems to me his focus is appropriate. We know that your focus is always on the programs because you've told us. Perhaps he'll discuss the programs in some future piece. As I have pointed out before, my own view of this is that the insistence on programs as rights hurts rather than facilitates the viability of those programs. "Good social policy" is a much better basis. The rights argument would best be put to rest.
