Well, it never has made much sense that the nastiest word we can use is also a synonym for the most beautiful act between two people.

Now Penni, I certainly don't know to what you refer. However, while doing a bit of light reading in Capitalism and Finance in the Age of the Renaissance I ran across a passage in which the venerable Professor Ehrenberg states that our most famous verbal copulative derives from the family name of some early European bankers, the Fuggers. Seems that folks hated paying back their debts, and when money they owed was pried loose from their grip they claimed they were getting....Fugged. Or Fuggered? Whatever. I didn't write it.

Moreover, that particular name may well make a clever play on words with the German verb "to plow", but I dunno for sure. We would have to ask someone knowledgeable on the subject of plowing in foreign tongues, say Janice perhaps....
