Mongo, you joke, but you are probably right that "America is more likely to buy lumber than books over the internet." Business-to-business commerce is much, much bigger on the Web than consumer oriented "e-tailing". It's a natural, especially considering that many big company purchasing departments have been dealing with vendors electronically for years. It's much easier now. It makes perfect sense for contractors and wood product manufacturers to order from Roger over the Web. The companies that will make the most money from e-commerce and other uses of the Web, IMO, are those who sell the tools to make it possible.
