My view is that Clinton's impeachment and trial are not in keeping with the principles of the Constitution. My reason for believing this is that the Constitution spells it out clearly: "high crimes and misdemeanors." IMHO, lying about sex and trying to cover up a sexual affair unrelated to the governance of the nation are not "high crimes and misdemeanors."

You say the Republicans who are trying to remove Clinton are motivated by high-minded concern for Constitutional principles. I say they are motivated by political ambition, hate, and spite.

You and I are never going to agree on this (unless you change your mind), but the American voters will choose. It will be an interesting election in November 2000.
