Very interesting Steve, that's what my brother did in Mineral Wells was helicopters. First for the army in his training to become a pilot, then after Nam he was an instructor for the army and later an instructor pilot for South West Airways under contract to the Army at Fort Wolters there.

He moved on when the war ended and things were winding down. I doubt the base would have survived because after the war chopper pilots were in excess, my brother later had a job logging in the northwest and was paid less to fly the chopper than the chokersetter on the ground who attached the cable to the logs.
