Shadow banning is a practice where you post something on Twitter and every time you look at the tweet, it looks like it is up there for the public and you're followers to see. However, in reality, the tweet is only visible to you, but not to anyone else. In this way, they have weaponized tweets. It's fooling you into thinking nothing is wrong, while silencing you to the public. The only way Nunes found out this was happening is that his followers told him they couldn't see his tweet. So savvy conservative politicians are now engaging tweet verifiers who follow them and double check that their tweet is visible publicly. It's a very cynical and sneaky way to silence conservatives that Twitter pioneered.
Google does it in different ways. They push your posts or pages or videos further down in the search results to page 2 or 3 or even further down, so you lose prominence, even if your site is very popular relative to the others they increase the visibility on. In addition, they can demonetize your videos or site, so that you can't make ad revenues from it, which essentially ends your business. Facebook just flat out erases your posts or deactivates your account or pulls you out of their news flows and threads. All of it is very pernicious and can highly skew what the public sees towards liberal ideas.
The real danger now is that Socialism is on the rise, but conservative speech against it is being silenced. So Socialism may win without a fight, if this continues. The public won't know they danger they are in. Luckily for us, our President is an avid Tweeter, which helps him bypass all this censorship. The one man in America that Twitter doesn't dare to censor is Trump, because there would be an immediate and massive backlash. |
